Away from home, grapple with many issues, it is indeed never easy for domestic workers to adapt to changes in terms of life-style, cultures and languages too. Facing with many challenges, this group of domestic workers have come together to write an anthology of poems to share their woes and dreams.

This anthology of poems “I Am Domestic Worker, Singapura” reflect their journeys, stories on the problems, hopes and weaving dreams to turn them into reality.

It is heartening to see their attempts to write in English as it reflects their determination to strive for a better future. In this anthology, despite the flaws and the rawness of the poems, one can feel the sincerity and the strong dedication of the writers. Their confidence which grows strength to strength is truly amazing. It is through this collection of poems and short stories, one is able to taste the salty tears of hardships, struggles and sweetness of successes they achieve. One can’t help but to pat their backs and congrats them for their great efforts in producing this book!

A journey fraught with many obstacles, is a long road to success. With dreams, nothing is impossible. With hope, miracles can happen. With faith, successes will follow, slowly but surely. And it is through this collection of poems, our humanity is touched so delicately.
